Jagermeister Cocktails
7 drinks with this bottle, from the easy ones up.
What goes with Jagermeister?
Energy drink is the famous one, because a Jägerbomb's sugar and tart fruit cover the herbs. For something more grown-up, try ginger beer or tonic with a slice of orange, where the spice and bitterness line up. Either way, keep the bottle in the freezer.
What does it taste like?
Licorice, herbs, citrus peel and sweet spice, with a bitter edge. Ice cold it's smooth, and warm it's a lot.
Which bottle should I buy?
There's only one Jägermeister, so this is an easy call.
Goes well with
A dark German herbal liqueur from Wolfenbüttel, made with 56 herbs, fruits, roots and spices. It's 35% ABV. A dark amaro such as Averna gets you into the same herbal territory.
Questions
What do you mix Jagermeister with?
Energy drink, ginger beer and tonic. Energy drink makes a Jägerbomb, and ginger beer or tonic makes a better long drink.
Does Jagermeister contain deer blood?
No. It's a long-running myth, and the company says the recipe has never contained animal blood. The stag on the label is a nod to the name, which means master hunter.
Should Jagermeister be kept in the freezer?
Yes, if you plan to drink it as a shot. At 35% ABV it won't freeze solid in a home freezer, and the cold tames the herbs and sugar.
